Our Story

About the artist.

My name is Hannah and I am the artist behind Cold Mountain Ceramics. I have been a practicing potter since 2011 and full-time artist since 2018. My work centers on creating functional wares for the home and garden inspired by our Blue Ridge Mountains, woodland landscapes, and quiet moments in nature. As a WNC native, having spent my formative years in these woods chasing my imagination, I find my artistic style is a direct reflection of my heart and clay is the perfect medium to voice it. These slow-crafted vessels are intended to be used in your daily rituals as a reminder to take a breath and root yourself in the moment with textures and colors found among quiet forests. Admittedly, it's a challenging thing to do these days but that's why I continue to create. Even when I can't escape physically to the woods, I can bring the woods to me through my craft and I can share it with you too.

In May of 2021, I opened an interdisciplinary art and ceramic studio in the heart of Downtown Canton, nestled among the ever-captivating Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. Despite multiple floods inundating the studio and having to rebuild from scratch, we have cultivated a mighty community and continue to thrive. It is beyond a dream come true engaging our artists and working alongside them. So know that when you support this shop, you’re supporting more than just me - you’re helping support our local artists realize their own dreams in our sweet rural town.
